LILA appoints five new members to its committee
Following a competitive selection process at the recent Annual General Meeting, a new Executive Committee of LILA has been appointed for 2018-2019, including five new committee members who have been elected for the first time.
Gráinne Mellon, Kerry Anne Currie, Anna Mullins hold the positions of Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary respectively.
Grace Aylward, Will Glover, Catherine Gilfedder and Judith Houston were re-elected as committee members. They are joined by Anne Kavanagh Gerald Byrne, Suzanne Gallagher, David Hardstaff and Ciarán McGonagle.
Anne Kavanagh has joined as treasurer. She is a solicitor specialising in Clinical Negligence at Irwin Mitchell. Anne came to London after qualifying as an nurse at St Vincent’s Hospital. She completed her legal qualifications and training contract in London.
Gerald Byrne, Suzanne Gallagher, David Hardstaff and Ciarán McGonagle were appointed committee members.
Gerald Byrne specialises in large commercial and financial services disputes. He has gained experience in construction, defamation and regulatory disputes. Prior to joining Brown Rudnick, Gerald qualified in Dublin and worked in the London office of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP.
Suzanne Gallagher is a solicitor specialising in corporate crime, financial crime and regulatory enforcement. Prior to joining private practice, Suzanne worked in the United Nations. She also worked in the pharmaceuticals industry in Tokyo and regulation in the European Union.
David Hardstaff is a solicitor specialising in serious and general criminal litigation, motoring law, extradition, regulatory law and public law. Prior to entering into private practice, David undertook an internship at the California Appellate Project, where he assisted in the representation of defendants sentenced to death in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Ciarán McGonagle is Assistant General Counsel at the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA). Ciarán leads ISDA’s legal work on distributed ledger technology and smart contracts and supports ISDA’s legal documentation and European policy work. Prior to joining ISDA, Ciarán spent 6 years as legal counsel at Deutsche Bank.
