Trailblazer Programme

We are excited to announce the creation of a new LILA programme aimed at improving social mobility in the London legal industry, and helping trailblazing youngsters from across Ireland, in their journey to forge legal careers for themselves.

The Trailblazer Programme will work alongside a number of universities across the four provinces to establish a programme of workshops, talks and a mooting competition targeted at pupils with a passion for law and who meet a number of socio-economic indicators (or whose school is a DEIS school).

What we’ve done so far

LILA Committee Members have already begun discussions with six universities across Ireland, and we ran our first workshop as part of the Trailblazer Programme in November; a dispute resolution workshop for 16 pupils identified by Queens University Belfast’s Pathways to Law programme. The feedback we’ve already received from attendees has been very positive.

Social Mobility Working Group

We are keen to establish the Trailblazer Programme over the course of 2023 and to run its first full programme of events in Autumn 2023. To achieve this, we are looking to establish a LILA Social Mobility Working Group, which will be a mixture of LILA Committee Members and non-Committee Members who are committed to building up and helping run the scheme.
